Leading the Way Back Home

The driving force behind Home Dialysis Plus is a desire to improve the quality of dialysis therapy for patients with End Stage Renal Disease. The ability to receive longer, more frequent dialysis treatment has been shown to dramatically improve the quality of life for patients. HD+ will offer patients the ability to experience this type of treatment in a portable, easy to use and cost-effective home system.

Portable

Thanks to advanced proprietary
technology, the HD+ system is truly portable.  Intended to be as easy to manage as a piece of carry-on luggage, the system utilizes ordinary tap water to create dialysate in real time.  For patients with a desire to travel, the only requisites for treatment away from home are access to a tap, drain and a standard 110v outlet.

In addition to acheiving a new level of lifestyle freedom, the HD+ portable home system offers patients:

  • A compact all-inclusive unit that requires no adjunct machinery
  • The ability to avoid hauling or shipping dialysate in order to have treatment away from home
  • A small, unabstrusive unit that is easy to transport and store

Easy to Use

We know a significant deterrent to home dialysis treatment is the complexity of systems presently available. HD+ addresses this issue by offering a system that is incredibly patient and care provider friendly.  With home dialysis nurses, nephrologists, technicians and patients advising the HD+ team, patients should expect a system that offers:

  • Minimal training requirements for successful and safe treatment
  • Limited user input and minimal time for system set up and clean up
  • Push button input - no special codes to memorize
  • Single cartridge system - easily insert disposables with each treatment

Affordable

HD+ will provide products and services at a cost that fits within the current reimbursement structures. While Nighly Nocturnal Dialysis (NND) uses six dialyzers and blood sets per week, the increased cost of the supplies can be offset by reduced labor and facility costs. The anticipated overall cost of NND treatment is less than in-center treatment as NND patients use fewer medications and spend less time in the hospital.

Home dialysis is paid for by both Medicare and private insurance. To learn more about how home dialysis is paid for, please follow this link to the Medicare FAQ page at Home Dialysis Central.
